  PhD Researcher in Environmental Psychology

  Bangor University, School of Environmental and Natural Sciences

  ESRC-WGSSS funded doctoral research investigating how natural soundscapes affect human psychological and physiological wellbeing. Three linked studies combining laboratory VR experiments, thermal imaging and outdoor field studies. Partnered with BTO Cymru.

  Research Assistant

  Liverpool John Moores University

  Developed and tested a novel thermal imaging pipeline for studying physiological responses in wild passerine birds along urban-rural gradients. Co-authored a preprint (Roy and McLeod, 2024) and contributed to study design, data collection and analysis.

  Darwin 200 Global Leader

  Darwin 200 Initiative / Refauna Project, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

  Selected as one of 200 Global Darwin Leaders. Documented and participated in the Refauna project's reintroduction of brown howler monkeys (Alouatta guariba) to Tijuca National Park. Contributed to documentary film production and public engagement materials. Award value approximately £4,000.

  Behavioural ecology research on lion-tailed macaques (Macaca silenus) in South India. Field data collection including focal animal sampling, occupancy modelling and vegetation analysis in fragmented rainforest habitats.

  Bird occupancy surveys and habitat analysis. Applied species distribution modelling and vegetation analysis across study sites. Gained experience in point count methodology and occupancy modelling approaches.

  Field Researcher

  Kerala Bird Atlas / WWF-India, Kerala

  Five-year contribution to systematic bird monitoring across Kerala as part of the Kerala Bird Atlas project, in collaboration with WWF-India. Field data collection across diverse habitat types including wetlands, forests, grasslands and agricultural areas. Results published in Current Science, 2022.

  Leading a group of 10 foundation-year students in an environmental science project assessing the effects of microplastics on plant growth. Responsibilities include teaching, supervision, assessment and pastoral care.

  Running drop-in statistics and R programming workshops for postgraduate researchers across the College of Science and Engineering. Topics include data wrangling, linear mixed models, visualisation and reproducible research workflows.
